NeuroTec Sitem opening

 

Two years ago, the Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine, SITEM-Insel, has opened its doors. On September 14, 2021, from 4 to 7 pm at Felix Frey auditorium, outstanding personalities from politics, medicine, and science were welcomed at the official NeuroTec Sitem opening.
The main aim of NeuroTec is to develop novel technologies to enable the translation of personalized diagnostics and therapeutic interventions from the clinic to the patient’s home.
The program of the welcome day followed a red line, talks about regional, national, and international innovation.
Exciting lectures and a roundtable discussion were followed with an «Apéro riche» and it was possible to visit the NeuroTec Loft and selected SITEM-Insel facilities...

Narcolepsy Update

News from the 2021 European Narcolepsy Days

 

In September the 18th European Narcolepsy Masterclass and the 12th European Narcolepsy Days were held in Berlin, Germany and also virtually.
The European Narcolepsy Days is a unique international meeting focusing on narcolepsy, where scientists, clinicians and patients all meet together. This year, more than 200 participants joined the meeting.

How to approach a patient

 

Also during the European Narcolepsy Days, management of patients was a key topic. Recently published European Guidelines (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ene.14888) were presented. The approach how to treat however may vary between physician and patients. This also become clear in the joint discussions with patients.

Events

25th Berner Schlaf-Wach-Epilepsie Tage
Bern | 10th-12th November 2021

 

The symposium of the interfaculty research cooperation (IFK) will start the three-day training event on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, the workshop sleep in competitive sports will take place for the first time and lead into the 25th traditional Bern Sleep-Wake-Epilepsy Symposium in the afternoon. And for the 6th time, the Center for Experimental Neurology (ZEN) will round out the program on Friday.

Also this year, the 25th Sleep-Wake-Epilepsy Days bring together top-class experts from the fields of medicine and research from Switzerland and abroad.

7th Swiss Narcolepsy Day
Lugano | 20th January 2022

 

A growing number of normal population suffer severely from daytime sleepiness. In some cases this is caused by narcolepsy – a rare and compromising, still underdiagnosed and not well understood disorder. The 7th Swiss Narcolepsy Day offers opportunities to address clinical aspects of narcolepsy and report on scientific progress in disease mangement.
